As Brazil expands its wind power capacity, the transmission system faces increasingly complex operating conditions and a higher risk of instability and blackouts. In this presentation, SEL power system engineer Ricardo Abboud discusses the design and implementation of a large remedial action scheme (RAS) to address these issues. The presentation also covers the cybersecurity and communications solutions that enable the RAS to operate reliably across the service areas of 15 different transmission companies.
